First delivery of equipment

During our trip to Sri Lanka, the EleBalance team met with the farmers we will be closely working with. Several farmers informed our team of equipment needed to successfully care for their orange tree crops. Most of the funding for the equipment was provided by EleBalance, but several farmers also contributed, demonstrating their dedication and commitment to ensuring their orange trees thrive.

On September 6, 2024 The Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society (SLWCS) was able to provide this equipment on behalf of EleBalance. At this time, new equipment has been provided to three of our partner farmers. A grass cutter was given to farmer Mr. Munasinghe, ensuring he can effectively cut the tall grass growing around his orange tree crops. Small water tanks were provided to farmers Mr. Kumara and Ms. Nimal, allowing both farmers to properly water their orange trees.

The road to self-sustainment continues for the farmers EleBalance is partnering with. In the meantime, EleBalance is still seeking donations to provide our partners with the tools they need to succeed. Consider making a donation today to help our farmers continue to care for their orange tree crops. Doing so will mitigate human-elephant conflict, protecting the farmers and their families in Sri Lanka as well as the elephants.
